The story

Delivering training in 5 and 4 star hotels for over 20+ years we saw a gap with some topics that operational staff would benefit from learning. We mainly focussed on Bed Bug Identification, WHS for Room Attendants and Food Safety.

The challenge was to develop something that staff could access on the go during busy service periods or if they had a spare moment they could access the content quickly. 

Working with Michael Frost and the eLearning Products team was seamless. Developing short videos in actual hotels, focussing on the visuals with lots of images as well as supporting short text was key in being able to engage staff and support their work practices.     

Why focus on these topics? 

Bed Bugs are a growing problem. They do not discriminate between 5 star hotels and backpacker hostels and can result in room closure and even legal action by guests. This learning resource provides a guide to the identification of bed bugs, their favourite hiding places and what to do if they are found.

WHS is not something new and is a legal requirement for organisations to ensure the safety of everyone. This is a task specific product showing essential best WHS practices within a housekeeping department to minimise injury.

Food safety is essential to safeguard people from getting sick. This resource outlines the responsibilities organisations and workers have to ensure they understand causes of food related illness and ways they can control the spread of bacteria to ensure safe food handling practices.
